You can find out if the car you are looking at is a stolen car, whether it has outstanding finance, the number of previous owners, and more. You can get some of this information for free with a free car check in just a few seconds. One out of every three vehicle checks uncovers a hidden history. Don’t take a risk on your new car – get a free check today.

What Is a Car Check?

A car check can include a multitude of services. You may also see a car check referred to as a vehicle history report, HPI check, or other similar names. With an instant car check, you can find out in just a few seconds if any UK-registered car, van or motorbike has any of the following adverse items in its history:

  • Stolen vehicle
  • Mileage discrepancies
  • Colour changes

You can also find out about other important car analytics, such as:

MOT History

An MOT check can tell you a vehicle’s mileage and if any parts have problems or have previously passed the MOT check-up. You can also see who performed the inspection if the repairs were successful, and the expected date for the next inspection.

Tax Check or VED Check

Find out if a vehicle has up-to-date vehicle tax or has been registered as SORN (off the road.)

Insurance Write-off

It can save a lot of headaches by getting an insurance write-off check when purchasing a vehicle to ensure it’s not categorised.  These Categories include A (Scrap) and Category B (Break) which should not be resold. Other insurance categories include:

  • Category C may involve significant damage to the car that is repairable but may cost more than the car itself. Category C vehicles can be safely repaired and resold.
  • Category D vehicles may involve some damage to the car that is repairable but may cost more than the vehicle itself. Category D vehicles can be safely repaired and resold.
  • Category S (Structurally Damaged Repairable) Category S vehicles must be re-registered before being listed on the DVLA.
  • Category N (Non-Structurally Damaged Repairable) Category N vehicles have simply been scratched on the surface without damage to their structural integrity. Category N cars are not required to be re-registered with the DVLA before being driven, but they must be informed that the vehicle has been written off.

Import/ Export Check

Find out the vehicle details of imported vehicles with an import/ export check. All you need to do is plug the vehicle registration number in and find out in seconds if your car has previously been imported or exported. While imported vehicles are legal in the UK, they can come with additional risks. An import/ export check will let you know if a particular vehicle carries a heightened risk.

Car History

Find out about the vehicle’s history with a vehicle history report. Find out the vehicle usage history, and the number of previous owners, see photos of the car, decode the VIN number, assess the equipment on the car, and more.

Stolen Status

We check police and insurer databases to find out if the vehicle you are interested in has been reported as stolen. Depending on your insurance policy, you may not be entitled to compensation for losses incurred when buying a stolen car.

Outstanding Finance

Find out if previous owners of a vehicle owe money to a finance company, and whether or not they have the right to sell the car to you.

We offer this information and more for less than half the price of our competitors. We even offer a free car check to get you started. You can choose to upgrade to the premium report for only £9.95, the lowest price in the UK for comprehensive vehicle checks.
